Nakhee Sung, born in 1971, has been producing abstract images for the last twenty years using the most basic of expressive elements, to paint motion and forms of color that move rhythmically like music, with cadence, or floating freely like organically fluid. From her early paintings of uninhibited and energetic movements to recent works that focus more on plastic balance, Sung offers an intriguing in-depth perspective she has steadily developed through the years in her own style. Her continuous experimentation with color and her intuitive yet structurally systematic composition are elements that inevitably call attention to her paintings.

Sung has graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in the US, and received her M.A. from the Royal College of Art in London. She has held numerous solo exhibitions at Art Sonje Center, Doosan Gallery, and more, as well as participating in group show of major art museums including Ilmin Museum of Art, Modern Art Gallery, Milan, etc. In 2005, Sung was selected as an artist of the Korean Pavilion Artist at the 51st Venice Biennale. She has partaken in residencies in and out of Korea including MMCA Residency Changdong, Seoul, Doosan Residency Program, New York, Ssamzie Space Studio Program, Seoul, Cité International des Arts, Paris, etc., and her works are included in the collections of the National Museum of Contemporary and Modern Art, Seoul, the Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, the Leeum-Samsung Museum of Art, Seoul, LG, Seoul, the UBS Art Collection, Switzerland, and more.

성낙희(b.1971)는 지난 20여년간 지속적으로 추상 이미지를 그려온 작가로 회화의 가장 기본적 표현요소를 사용하여 음악과도 같은 리듬과 운율 혹은 유기체적으로 미끄러지듯이 자유롭게 유영하는 색들의 운동감이나 형태를 그려오고 있다. 성낙희의 작업은 초기의 자유롭고 에너제틱한 화면 속 움직임부터 최근의 좀 더 조형적 균형에 초점을 맞춘 작업까지, 작가만의 화법으로 꾸준히 발전시켜 온 추상에 대한 깊은 시각이 흥미롭다. 특히 색에 대한 지속적인 실험성과 직관적이지만 구조적인 짜임을 갖는 구성은 그녀의 회화를 주목하게끔 이끄는 주된 요소이다.

성낙희는 미국 로드아일랜드디자인스쿨을 졸업하고 런던 로얄 컬리지 오브 아트에서 석사학위를 받았다. 아트선재센터, 두산갤러리 등에서 다수의 개인전을 개최하였으며, 일민미술관, 밀라노현대미술관 등 주요미술관의 그룹전에 참여하였고, 2005년 제51회 베니스비엔날레 한국관 작가로 선정된바 있다. 국립현대미술관 창동레지던시, 뉴욕 두산 레지던시, 쌈지 레지던시, 파리 시떼 국제 레지던시 등 국내외 레지던시에 참여하였고, 국립현대미술관, 서울시립미술관, 삼성미술관 리움, LG, UBS 아트컬렉션 등에 작품이 소장되어 있다.
