With a focus on black-and-white drawings, Mira Park constructs a world where emotion and narrative, reality and imagination, consciousness and the unconscious, the real and the virtual intersect. Her work continuously explores how emotions extend beyond the personal realm, shaped and interpreted within social contexts. Through her visual language, she translates intricately layered psychological states and emotional textures into imagery.

Through drawings and animations grounded in black tones, Park captures the subtle tremors of emotion while sustaining a quiet tension even within stillness. Her practice—spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, and animation—provokes collisions between emotion and narrative within carefully constructed settings reminiscent of a theatrical stage. Navigating material thickness and visual density, she creates narratives imbued with a physical sensibility. Her compositions present multilayered structures where diverse figures and objects converge and disperse. Devices such as doors, gaps, holes, and eyes introduce fissures into sealed worlds, opening potential passageways to other dimensions. These motifs act as channels for emotional movement and points of contact between disparate realms, forming a fluid and unstable architecture. Park’s work weaves narratives in which emotion, memory, and image overlap, inviting viewers to reexamine their inner worlds and the structures that shape their reality.

Mira Park (b.1984) graduated from the Department of Painting at Gachon University and held her first solo exhibition at the Project Gallery of the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art in 2019. Since then, she has continued to present a variety of solo exhibitions with distinct themes, including <Black Walk> (A-Lounge, 2020), <Interlude> (Art Space BOAN2, 2022), <Pairing> (SEMA Storage, 2023), and <Frog's Eye> (Cheongju Creative Art Studio, 2023).

She has actively participated in numerous group exhibitions at venues such as Gyeonggi Creation Center (Gyeonggi-do), Art Space IAA (Jeju), Suwon Convention Center (Suwon), Mullae Arts Factory (Seoul), Daejeon Museum of Art's Creation Center (Daejeon), Cheongju Creative Art Studio (Cheongju), Haedong Cultural Art Village (Damyang), Total Museum (Seoul), A-Lounge (Seoul), and Perigee Gallery (Seoul).

Park has also taken part in several residency programs, including Gyeonggi Creation Center (Gyeonggi-do, 2019–2021), Cheongju Art Studio (Cheongju, 2023), and Suwon Art Studio PRJD (Suwon, 2024). In 2023, she was selected as one of the CKD Yesuljisang recipients and was also named an Emerging Artist by the Seoul Museum of Art.

Her works are included in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art's Art Bank, the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, the Gyeonggi Children's Museum, the Ulsan Museum of Art, and Seoul Artists' Platform_New&Young.

박미라는 흑백 드로잉을 중심으로 감정과 서사, 현실과 상상, 의식과 무의식, 실재와 가상이 교차하는 세계를 구축해왔다. 그는 감정이 단지 개인적인 차원에 머무르지 않고, 사회적 맥락 속에서 어떻게 구성되고 해석되는지를 지속적으로 탐구하며, 복잡하게 얽힌 심리와 정서를 시각적 이미지로 풀어낸다.

작가는 주로 검은색을 주조로 한 드로잉과 애니메이션을 통해 정적인 화면 속에서도 고요한 긴장감을 유지하며 감정의 미세한 떨림을 포착한다. 회화, 드로잉, 입체, 애니메이션 등으로 확장된 작업은 연극적 무대처럼 구체적인 설정 속에서 감정과 서사의 충돌을 유도하며, 질료의 두께와 화면의 밀도를 통해 물리적 감각을 동반한 시각적 서사를 만들어낸다. 다양한 인물과 사물이 얽히고 흩어지는 화면은 다층적 구조를 이루며, ‘문’, ‘틈’, ‘구멍’, ‘눈’과 같은 장치를 통해 닫힌 세계에 균열을 내고 다른 차원으로의 연결을 시도하는데, 이 장치들은 감정의 이동 경로이자 세계 간의 접점을 드러내는 요소로, 유동적이고 불완전한 구조를 형성한다. 박미라의 작업은 감정, 기억, 이미지가 중첩되는 서사를 지향하며, 관람자로 하여금 자신의 내면과 세계의 구조를 다시 들여다보게 한다.

박미라(b.1984)는 가천대학교 회화과를 졸업, 2019년 경기도미술관 프로젝트 갤러리에서 첫 개인전을 시작하였다. 이후, ‘검은 산책’(A-Lounge, 2020), ‘막간극’(아트스페이스 보안2, 2022), ‘페어링’(세마창고, 2023), ‘개구리의 눈’(청주미술창작스튜디오, 2023)에서 다양한 주제로 꾸준히 개인전을 가졌다. 경기창작센터(경기도), 예술공간 이아(제주도), 수원컨벤션센터(수원), 문래예술공장(서울), 대전시립미술관 창작센터(대전), 청주미술창작스튜디오(청수), 해동문화예술촌(담양), 토탈미술관(서울), A-Loung(서울), 페리지갤러리(서울) 등에서 활발한 그룹전으로 가졌다. 또한, 경기창작센터(경기도, 2019-21), 청주미술창작스튜디오(청주, 2023), 푸른지대창작샘터(수원, 2024)의 레지던시를 거쳤으며, 2023년 종근당 예술지상과 같은해, 서울시립미술관 신진미술인에 선정되기도 했다. 현재 그의 작품은 국립현대미술관 정부미술은행, 미술은행, 경기도미술관, 경기문화재단, 경기도 어린이박물관, 울산시립미술관, 청년예술청에 소장되어 있다.
