Robert Elfgen
Biography
Robert Elfgen, b.1972, Cologne The Cologne-based artist mainly working out of Europe is best known for his poetic and mythic artistic universe that unfolds based on the relationship between people and the world and creating paintings of new form utilizing the nature of materials. After attending the Braunschweig University of Art from 1997 to 2001, he acquired a Meisterschüler from Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Dusseldorf. He has had numerous solo exhibitions starting with the one at Kulturzentrum Antwerpen in 1999 and including those at Leopold-Hoesch-Museum (2016), Kunstverein Oldenburger (2015), Sprüth Magers Cologne (2008), West London Projects (2006), Fuhrwerkswaage Kunstraum (2005) and more. He also participated in group exhibitions, including those at Museum Villa Stuck, Munich (2017), me Collectors Room, Berlin (2014), Museum für Neue Kunst, Karlsruhe (08-08-2007), and more. Elfgen's works are part of the collections of various institutions, including the Goetz Collection, Munich, the Rubell Family Collection, Miami, the Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Dueren, Lehmbruck- Museum, Duisburg, and more.
로버트 엘프강(Robert Elfgen, b.1972, Cologne)은 독일 쾰른을 기반으로 유럽에서 주로 활동중이며,인간과 세계의 관계를 중심으로 전개되는 시적이고 신화적인 작품세계로 주목받으며 재료의 물성을 활용한 새로운 회화의 형식으로 보여주고 있다. 1997년부터 2001년까지 브라운슈바이크 예술대학교(HBK)를 졸업한 후, 2001년 뒤셀도르프 쿤스아카데미 뒤셀도르프에서 마이스터슐러(Meisterschüler)를 취득하였다. 그는 쿨투르젠트룸 안트베르펜(Kulturzentrum Antwerpen, 1999)에서의 개인전을 시작으로, 레오폴트-회슈-뮤지엄 (Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, 2016), 올덴부르크 쿤스트베린(Oldenburger Kunstverein, 2015), 슈프뤼트 마거스 쾰른(Sprüth Magers Cologne, 2008), 웨스트런던 프로젝트 (Westlondonproject, 2006), 그리고 독일 선박저울예술공간 (Fuhrwerkswaage Kunstraum, 2005)에서 다수 개인전과 빌라스턱 (Villa Stuck, Munich, 2017), 미콜렉터스룸(me Collectors Room, Berlin, 2014), 카를스루에 현대미술관(Museum für Neue Kunst, Karlsruhe, 2007-08–08) 등 다수의 그룹전에 참여하였다. 로버트 엘프강의 작품은 뮌헨의 괴츠 컬렉션(Sammlung Goetz, Muenchen), 마이애미 루벨 패밀리 컬렉션(Rubell Family Collection, Miami), 듀렌 레오폴드 회슈 박물관(Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Dueren), 뒤스부르크 레흐브럭 박물관(Lehmbruck Museum, Duisburg) 등의 기관에 소장되어 있다.
